Sail Arabia's Objectives
- Promote the integration of able-bodied and physically disabled people of all ages through large ship sailing adventure holidays and associated activities.
- Provide young people with a challenging and rewarding program of personal and character development through large ship adventure sailing programs and associated activities
- Promote Arabian Heritage and Culture through the operation of a large traditional sailing craft throughout the region and the world, promoting Arabic culture and Arabian nautical history
In order to achieve these objectives, Sail Arabia will operate three programs:
Sailing program
Sail Arabia includes a sailing program for mixed ability crews, Sailing a dhow is used as a way to help people with mixed abilities integrate or re-integrate into society and it teaches able bodied people about people with limitations.
Educational program
Sail Arabia includes an education program, involving schools, colleges and universities to develop understanding about working with mixed abilities, special needs and arabian maritime heritage.
Cultural program
Sail Arabia includes a maritime heritage visitors centre which includes a fully operational dhow building wharf, dhow building displays, restaurant and main headquarters of the charity. As part of the program the finished dhow will visit ports all over the world and act as a Cultural Ambassador for the Arab World and its people.
