Volunteers

Volunteers are the hart of the organisation in each local area. We aim to have a local organisation in each port we regularly visit. The local volunteer organisation is organised in branches and will receive all support and materials required from the office.

The local organisation can draw upon the expertise and support material of the office support staff to organise local awareness raising events, local educational events and local publicity events.

Volunteers can take part in special voyage support, dhow maintenance and support the voyage and full time crew with skills in the area of sailing the boat. Most watch-leaders are ex-voyage crew who want to stay involved in the running of the dhow. They receive discounted voyage rates in return for taking responsibility as a watch leader.
